Marni for H&M
February 20, 2012 § 2 Comments
The time has arrived for the brand new H&M collaboration with Marni to be revealed. Original patterns, amazing silk pieces, to die for jewellery – I can not wait till 8th March to update my closet with a handful of items. By far my favourite are the silk creation – bright shorts, pajama styled shirts and trousers (trend alert!) and even silk cardigans: those items will be unique on high street. But also, unlike the Versace for H&M predecessor, Marni jewelery creations are worth paying attention to: statement necklaces, colourful earrings and oversized bracelets that scream high fashion. The only items I am not impressed with are sandals, which look too masculine and bulky and anything in brown and green tribal print – the kind of print that despite uniqueness just does not look stylish enough. All in all though, I am excited as there is a whole range of items I absolutely love! This will go down in history as one of the best collaborations for H&M.
Indeed the success of the team up could be predicted by looking at the great turn out at the launch party which saw stars like Drew Barrymore, Freida Pinto, Winona Ryder and Mila Jovovich showcase the designs. Below are (a few) of my favourite items. I promise to return to the topic on 8th and tell you all about the shopping experience and what items I ended up purchasing!

New Fashion Sweetheart: Lana Del Rey
February 12, 2012 § 12 Comments
Bursting into music scene when her home made video for a melancholic song Video Games went viral on Youtube, Lana Del Rey has just as quickly gained popularity in the fashion world as in the music world. And while her songs and questionable authenticity is being debated all over the internet by music critics, there is nothing less than a complete acceptance of this lady in fashion industry. The song bird has already performed at Chateau Marmont in LA at Mulberry party, was flown to Beijing to do the same for Dior, signed a modelling contract and (drum roll please) appeared on the cover of British Vogue shot by one and only Mario Testino.
On the pictures and in her videos Lana looks every inch of the star she is about to become. And while her off duty look still need a few tweaks (Lana please drop those bomber jackets, they are only cute if you borrowed them from your boyfriend when you were too optimistic about the weather outside and not for daily wear) one thing she definitely got right is her hair style: she epitomises those soft retro waves seen all over spring/summer 2012 fashion runways!
And since I am simply in love with Lana’s Born to Die video, here are the items inspired by two of her outfits in the video. I will definitely be channeling half-hipster half-flower child look very soon (as soon as this Global Freeze currently positioned over London disappears, that is).

Have You Got Yourself Some Karl?
January 26, 2012 § 12 Comments
And if the answer to the question is ‘No’ then you must hurry up – the collection is selling out as we speak.
Now back to the beginning: Just yesterday Karl Lagerfeld unveiled his new lower priced collection titled Karl to the World (think of Versace for H&M without H&M – just Karl by Karl which is way more exciting). But the fact that you can now purchase Lagerfeld’s creation without the hefty price tag is not the only innovative idea used in the project. The collection is only available online (at net-a-porter.com to be specific who have worked on the concept with Karl from start to finish and now are reaping the fruits of unprecedented publicity) and at the launch events held in Paris and London no clothes could be bought – just the pictures of clothes could be scanned with smart phones to be purchased through net-a-porter online.
The collection is mostly black and white and is exactly what Karl is loved for – high fashion glamorous biker chic who loves neat white shirts, leather fingerless gloves, skinny pants, collars and a bit of glitter here and there. The items start from £20 for canvas shopper and £50 for already mentioned gloves and goes up to £980 for snakeskin print leather jacket, but do not expect to see any of the lower priced items still in stock. Here are a few of my favourite items, but to tell you the truth if I could I would have every single one!
- Jacinda two-tone printed cotton T-shirt, £85
- Sabine sequined shorts, £195
- Judit printed racer-back jersey vest, £70
- Printed cotton-poplin cameo collar, £70
- Metallic-buckled leather sandals, £325
- Cutaway leather gloves, £50
- Ordina hammered-satin biker dress, £225
- Jerry PVC-sleeve cotton jersey logo sweater, £135
- Sless denim biker vest, £390

Biggest S/S 12 Trend: Pastels
January 18, 2012 § 4 Comments
It is very rare that one overpowering trend emerges for the season, but this time despite fragmented trends like flower and parsley prints, sport de luxe and metallics, pastels are quickly gaining popularity. Also, surprisingly this trend matches the season well – it is not about being edgy or standing out but feeling spring and blending in with the natural colouring of the season.
It is hard to think of one designer collection that hasn’t featured pastel pieces this season – the catwalk was filled with them: from Louis Vuitton to Miu Miu, from Moschino to Oscar de la Renta, from Lanvin to DKNY. Two of my favourite campaigns this season play around with the trend too – Mulberry ice cream and candy on Brighton Pier and good-enough-to-eat pastels of Louis Vuitton (pictured above).
And since the new season just kicked in, it is absolutely the right time to discuss the most wanted pieces that have to be added to My Fashion Wish List for this particular trend. Above is my designer selection – think ice cream, candy floss and bubble gum!
- Mulberry Pebbed Beige Glossy Goat Bayswater £795
- Alice Cicolini Earrings and Ring each £1400
- Anya Hindmarch Valorie Glitter-finish Leather Clutch £350
- Mulberry Candy Pink Jersey Melange Printed Badge T-shirt £90
- Miu Miu Bow Embellished Bikini £145
- Dion Lee Plisse Stretch Jersey and Silk Crepe Dress £787
- Louis Vuitton Tuileries Sandals in Silk £600
- Miu Miu Top Handle Bag in Pink £825
- MiH Paris Mid-rise Cropped Jeans £155
But it is not all about designer creations – high street is rapidly absorbing the trend and coming up with great items. Here is the selection of my favourite pastels from high street so you can join in on the trend for below £140.
- Zatchel Colour Block Leather Satchel £122
- Topshop High Wasted Chinos £38
- Kandee Space Sherbet Boots £105
- Topshop Pastel Geo Tunic £20
- ASOS Pack of 50 Pastel Gummies £8
- Topshop Textured Knitted Grunge Jumper £36
- KG by Kurt Geiger Esme Shoes £140
- River Island Aqua Dress Belted Skater Dress £35
- American Apparel Large Carry-all Leather Pouch in Soft Pink, Lavender and Lemon each £48
Here you go – now you are ready to be the most fashionable self and welcome spring in style. It is just around the corner, I promise!
Classic Sale Buys You Won’t Regret
January 4, 2012 § 11 Comments
It is easy to end up in a sale frenzy – buying anything that seems to be at a great price and promising yourself to wear it. And it is always a guilt trip looking through your wardrobe a few weeks later realising those purchases will never see the day light. Thus I just had to pick out a few items that you will never regret buying on sale – those that are so classic they can be added to your wardrobe, worn repeatedly and not discarded after a fashion fab is over. This list is in no way complete, but hopefully it will get you to analyse your sale buys to avoid disappointment!
1. Mulberry Piccadilly Mole Grey Sparkle Tweed, was £1300 now £780 at mulberry.com – because it is one of the most classic bags ever, a bigger version of Bayswater that is perfect for a busy girl or a weekend away.
2. Jimmy Choo Glint Patent Shoe Boots, was £560 now £280 (also available in nude) at jimmychoo.com – everyone dreams of their own pair of Choo’s, this one will be worn so much it will be worth every penny.
3. Tory Birch Canvas Ipad Case, was £120 now £48 at net-a-porter.com – if Ipads are here to stay (which they are) why not turn your one into an accessory at a great price?
4. Alexander McQueen Wool Felt Pleated Skirt, was £455 now £182 at net-a-porter.com – this kind of mini skirt will not come out of fashion. Plus it’s McQueen. No need to say more.
5. Monica Vinader Gold Plated Friendship Bracelet, was £130 now £65 at matchesfashion.com – it’s Monica Vinader, the queen of friendship bracelets – you just can’t say no!
6. Missoni Camberra Crochet-Knit Triangle Bikini, was £245 now £147 at net-a-porter.com – this knitted pattern is a visual synonym for Missoni and it is not going anywhere, you won’t need a cooler bikini for years to come!
7-10. Tees that go with everything – you will wear them forever due to great quality, all from mywardrobe.com:
Day Birger et Mikkelsen Grey Basic Long Sleeve Tee, was £59 now £35
Splendid White Suprima Two Button Cotton Tank, was £60 now £24
Vanessa Bruno Anthe Jersey Angora T-shirt, was £94 now £47
American Vintage Petrol Blue Long Sleeve T-shirt, was £51 now £25
All New Versace For H&M
December 19, 2011 § 2 Comments
Breaking news! Versace is doing another collaboration with H&M and it will be released on January 16! The success of the first collection was so great they decided to do one more and I absolutely can not wait – especially since it is cruise collection! The range is complete from bikinis to shoes, from nighties to jewellery and from dresses to bags. I want to get every single piece, pack it into a cute bag from the collection and jet off somewhere nice and hot. Trouble is this new range will only be released online – so it will be extremely hard to get access to the website on the day as the experience with the first collection already proved. Nevertheless, the obstacle will not stop me from trying to get my hands on the cute clothes and accessories covered in fruits, berries and butterflies. See the selection of my favourite pieces from the preview released earlier today above and let me know what items you will be chasing after.
(Bikinis both £24.99, Earrings 19.99, Shorts £24.99, T-Shirt £19.99, Silk Dress £59.99, Ballet Pumps £39.99, Bag £99.99).
P.S. Pictures of the new Versace for H&M men’s collection has also been released today and it is amazing – definitely more wearable than the previous one. Something for the few male readers accidentally stumbling on my blog to be excited about.
Bracelet Obsession Continues
December 12, 2011 § Leave a comment
I love stacking bracelets on my wrist. Right now I sport Monica Vinader, Tiffany, Daisy Jewellery Chakra Bracelet, double leather strap I purchased in Venice Beach California and a Turquoise Cross Bracelet from Urban Outfitters. I have a feeling it is time to expand the collection.
Meet Bee Gregson Jewels! Their bracelets made it onto Vogue Christmas Wish List (I’m proud to say a few of the items I blogged about over the last few months were there). Made out of semi precious stones and metal charms those feminine looking bracelets would look great on their own or in a stack. There are so many colours to choose from – but my selection above is of natural hue:
1. White Jasper Paloma Silver Single Bracelet, £26.
2. Hessonite and Gold Paloma Luxe Double Bracelet, £99.
3. Mokaite and Silver Paloma Double Bracelet, £68.
Purchase them online at http://www.beegregsonjewels.com for yourself or as a perfect Christmas Present!

Matthew Williamson Feather and Crystal Embellished Lace Dress, £3895
