The Art of Fashion

January 19, 2013 § Leave a comment

About a year ago here, I wrote about a new trend for backpacks that was taking over the fashion world – not just any backpacks you take hiking with you, but luxury ones with hefty price tags. In my selection of trending items I included Nile backpack by The Row, label owned by Olsen Twins, which was priced at over £2500. At the time paying as much for a rucksack seemed rather steep – I was not even sure if the trend was going to last long enough to be bothered to purchase one, let alone to commit to anything like The Row. Yet time has passed and Nile became one of the most sough after handbag of 2012, especially when the sisters brought out an even more luxurious version made out of crocodile skin (FYI at mere £22,000). Now that we are in 2013 I can safely say that The Row rucksack domination is nowhere near the end, thanks to one of the most exciting fashion-art collaborations of the decade. Damien Hirst The Row RucksacksAnd here they are – three of the twelve Nile pieces designed by Damien Hirst himself (hence the multicoloured circles and pills, of course). The trio was brought together by Just One Eye online store that specialises in artistic partnerships. I adore the idea for it’s multipurposeness: that is creativity-inspiring, profit-making, charity donating and of course press-generating. Not that Olsen twins, The Row or Damien Hirst required any more buzz around them. These pieces of art are yours for £35,000, by the way.

Hottest Dresses in Town

January 9, 2013 § Leave a comment

Three Floor, a London based brand I first blogged about last year, has been going from strength to strength over the last few seasons. It has been featured in numerous magazines and worn by as many celebrities, most recently by Saturday’s beauty Milly King. In truth I have been meaning to feature their AW12 dresses on My Fashion Wish List for a while, since I have been drooling over them for weeks, failing to decide exactly which one is my favourite. So here they are – the five hottest dresses in town by a label everyone is talking about. If you are not a fan yet, you have fallen off the fashion wagon. So quickly click here to view the collection and start spreading the love. Three Floor Dresses

Dresses featured, from left to right: Kerr (£128), Night Cat (£98), Bad Girl (£128), Lace Up (£98) and Daphne (£128).

Yet Another Sweatshirt

This is my 5th post in a row about clothing that could be classified into wide ranging category of ‘tops’. While I do apologise about the pattern that has emerged I believe there is a reason behind it. And it is laziness. Not laziness about doing more wide ranging research for my blog but in my day to day dress sense. See, since early November I have been working in fashion PR company that does, more often than not, require me to stay in the office long hours as well as do a lot of running around – usually just from show room to my desk, but very frequently. And because I love every minute of it, I adjusted my day to day style to what can be best described in two words ‘simple and comfortable’. Thus on daily basis I stick to a few pairs of jeans and a lot of leggings, and add to these basics various jumpers, sweatshirts and blirts. Hence no wonder My Fashion Wish List is affected! But I do hope, not in a bad way. After all it is winter and blogging about jumpers makes sense. Plus sweatshirts suddenly became the trendiest item of the moment. All in all, recent narrow focus of my posts should totally be forgiven. who the fuck is mick jagger sweater

And after that long justification for writing another blog post on sweatshirts, let’s move on to the focus of the article Who the Fuck is Mick Jagger? sweatshirt by Worn By. First of all let me just say that this label, unlike many other out there, is very specific about what they do. And since what they do is awesome, I simply adore it! Worn By since 2004 has been focused on selecting iconic rock’n’roll moments and transferring them into fashionable clothing. This particular jumper, does not as you might first think, represent a new generation of kids that have not heard about this particular music legend. Actually it is inspired by T-shirt worn by Keith Richards in 1975 during the Rolling Stones tour in USA. Back in a day this provocative gesture was widely discussed, making the printed t-shirt legendary. And now, thanks to the brand, you can also join in to rebellious rock’n’roll behaviour. The sweatshirt that is originally created for men is available wornby.co.uk with pricetag of £55. Happy shopping!

Les Plus Dores

I have to admit, thanks to being influenced by previous boyfriends and younger brothers, I do like to watch a bit of football. Occasionally. I even have a few football shirts of my favourite players (the hot ones, not necessarily the good ones, after all I’m a girl). Yet when I saw these football shirts – I wanted each and every one. New York based label Les Plus Dorés created sport-inspired tees for an imaginary team of most influential fashion designers. These 11 creations come in white and black and carry the names and birth years of designers on their back. Unfortunately they are not available in UK at the moment but you can order them from US here for $85.
Les Plus DoresP.S. I adore that the brand goes straight to the point with their slogan: ‘Handmade in NYC, for the most golden’.

Meadham Kirchhoff for Amazon

In my post on Christmas jumpers, I featured a very special Meadham Kirchhoff piece that was exclusively created for net-a-porter.com. A jumper so special you would have to part with nearly £1000 to make it a part of your closet. Yet there is another exclusive range by this fantastic duo I wanted to mention, which is much more affordable (probably the most affordable item created by Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff ever) and is definitely high on My Fashion Wish List right now! I am talking about an exclusive capsule collection of sweatshirts created for amazon.co.uk. The duo used their original collections for inspiration: the sweatshirts feature retro doll prints, blue lace motives also found in SS13 womenswear collection and unicorns, simply because unicorns are awesome. Get yours here for £75.

Knitwear for a Merry Christmas

December 24, 2012 § Leave a comment

Merry Christmas, Fashionistas! The day we have all been waiting for is upon us. It is nearly time to rip off those carefully assembled wrappings from presents, consume unbelievable amounts of turkey and alcohol and of course share a merry holiday spirit with the family. But what is just as exciting on Christmas day is seeing everyone in their funky jumpers! While I still love wearing cute ones knitted by my grandma, there are plenty of high quality fashionable option to choose from. This Christmas I am particularly in love with four below, all available on net-a-porter.com:Christmas Jumpers My Fashion Wish List

  1. Meadham Kirchhoff jumper with embroided baubles, luxury buy you would find hard not to wear after the celebrations are over. £945
  2. LOT78 Ho! Ho! Ho! jumper – not an obvious Christmas motif, but definitely a fun option. £220
  3. Moschino Reindeer Applique jumper – a more traditional choice, but from personal experience, be careful when choosing white for such a festive day! £396
  4. Moschino Gingerbread turtleneck. Yes indeed, turtleneck. While it is not a knitwear style I usually recommend on My Fashion Wish List, since Christmas day is probably the only day you can pull off something that ridiculous, you might as well use the chance! £396

Vlieger & Vandam

December 6, 2012 § 1 Comment

This summer I became a victim of a pick pocket – late evening in Piccadilly Circus while waiting for a taxi. He simply opened my small turn lock shoulder bag and took my phone out. And I did not notice a thing! Since then, apart from avoiding Piccadilly circus I have been looking for safer bags I can take on evening adventures. That is when I stumbled across Vlieger & Vandam’s collection of handbags that will definitely add some don’t-mess-with-me attitude to your look and maybe even keep your belongings safer! But don’t worry, these bags are totally legal as all the knifes, handcuffs and guns are just cool 3D leather designs created by the Dutch duo. They come in various shapes and sizes – from clutches to roomy bags – and have a few colours to choose from. I am definitely in love! And I’m not the only one – a few celebs, including Rumer Willis, have been seen sporting these designs. Plus they are features in permanent collection of MOMA. See the whole range all those practical modern art pieces here.

  2. Guardian Angel Soft Large Gun Handbag, €339

Baby, It’s Cold Outside – The Parka Edition

December 4, 2012 § Leave a comment

Last week I produce a scarf edit dedicated to how cold it is outside. Well it only got worse in the last few days and I decided it’s time to talk warmer garments – let’s talk winter parkas. Last season I purchased a light parka for those chilly spring evening (actually thanks to horrific few months that we in London call summer, I ended up wearing it much more than planned). And since now I need a parka update to suit the cold, and also thanks to the suggestion of blog’s frequent reader Daria M, who was also lost for choice over her winter outerwear, I searched for hours to bring you the best parkas from both top designer brands and high street favourites. Also notice the colours: you can go for the classic khaki colour as in the first set of chosen parkas, or you can opt for less obvious versions of the second set that include blue, grey and even printed multicoloured one. The only criteria that stays common with all the choices below (click on the name of your favourite to be redirected to the website for better look and purchase) is the warmth, because, well, baby, it’s cold outside!
