Biggest S/S 12 Trend: Pastels

January 18, 2012 § 4 Comments

It is very rare that one overpowering trend emerges for the season, but this time despite fragmented trends like flower and parsley prints, sport de luxe and metallics, pastels are quickly gaining popularity. Also, surprisingly this trend matches the season well – it is not about being edgy or standing out but feeling spring and blending in with the natural colouring of the season.

It is hard to think of one designer collection that hasn’t featured pastel pieces this season – the catwalk was filled with them: from Louis Vuitton to Miu Miu, from Moschino to Oscar de la Renta, from Lanvin to DKNY.  Two of my favourite campaigns this season play around with the trend too – Mulberry ice cream and candy on Brighton Pier and good-enough-to-eat pastels of Louis Vuitton (pictured above).

And since the new season just kicked in, it is absolutely the right time to discuss the most wanted pieces that have to be added to My Fashion Wish List for this particular trend. Above is my designer selection – think ice cream, candy floss and bubble gum!

  1. Mulberry Pebbed Beige Glossy Goat Bayswater £795
  2. Alice Cicolini Earrings and Ring each £1400
  3. Anya Hindmarch Valorie Glitter-finish Leather Clutch £350
  4. Mulberry Candy Pink Jersey Melange Printed Badge T-shirt £90
  5. Miu Miu Bow Embellished Bikini £145
  6. Dion Lee Plisse Stretch Jersey and Silk Crepe Dress £787
  7. Louis Vuitton Tuileries Sandals in Silk £600
  8. Miu Miu Top Handle Bag in Pink £825
  9. MiH Paris Mid-rise Cropped Jeans £155

But it is not all about designer creations – high street is rapidly absorbing the trend and coming up with great items. Here is the selection of my favourite pastels from high street so you can join in on the trend for below £140.

  1. Zatchel Colour Block Leather Satchel £122
  2. Topshop High Wasted Chinos £38
  3. Kandee Space Sherbet Boots £105
  4. Topshop Pastel Geo Tunic £20
  5. ASOS Pack of 50 Pastel Gummies £8
  6. Topshop Textured Knitted Grunge Jumper £36
  7. KG by Kurt Geiger Esme Shoes £140
  8. River Island Aqua Dress Belted Skater Dress £35
  9. American Apparel Large Carry-all Leather Pouch in Soft Pink, Lavender and Lemon each £48

Here you go – now you are ready to be the most fashionable self and welcome spring in style. It is just around the corner, I promise!

New Trend Alert: Cropped Corsets

January 17, 2012 § 1 Comment

Every season there is a particular length of tops that is considered hot. Spring/Summer 12 is all about exposing your midriff. But what is more, it is the cropped corsets that are the hottest item of the moment! While it is arguably not the most suitable look for the current weather, you should stock up on the cropped corsets for this spring – they are so popular if you do not get your hands on ones you like they will be soon sold out (like the Topshop Spot one above). Plus the advantage of knowing about this trend in advance – there is still plenty of time to get your body into shape for spring to be able to pull the look off.

The best thing about those corsets is that there are so many choices of what to match them with: from floaty skirts, to leggings, to short shorts and pencil skirts – let your imagination guide you to a perfect spring look. Here are the items going onto my wish list (and into my wardrobe):

  1. Topshop Spot Zip Back Corset £30
  2. Topshop Animal and Lace Corset £30
  3. ASOS Cropped Corset With Studded Detail £14
  4. ASOS Corset Top With Fringe Detail £14

AQUA

January 8, 2012 § 1 Comment

Aqua dresses have been on my radar for a while – beautifully designed unique shapes, paneling and structural creations that set trends rather than follow them. And above all femininity and sexiness. What more could a girl want in a dress?

If it was up to me I would fill my closet with Aqua – a choice of LBDs that you can wear anywhere, bold coloured dresses perfect for cocktail parties, maxi dresses for very special occasions, super sexy cut out numbers for all those events when you need to dress to impress and beautiful white numbers that you can take away on holiday somewhere nice and warm which will look even better with a slight tan. And that is about all you need. Add some stunning statement jewellery and highest heels you’ve got and you are ready!

Here is my selection – a little taster of the brand:

Diaz Mesh Paneled Long Sleave Dress in Black, £150
Bruni Origami Bandeau Mini Dress in Purple, £120
Flapper Structured Panel Maxi Fringe Bandeau Dress in Orange, was £170 now £110.50 (Recently worn by Cher Lloyd, the best I have ever seen her look)
Eva Boned Paneled V Back Mini Dress in Cream, £70
Vendella Peplum Structured Bandeau Dress in Black, was £125 now £50

Classic Sale Buys You Won’t Regret

January 4, 2012 § 11 Comments

It is easy to end up in a sale frenzy – buying anything that seems to be at a great price and promising yourself to wear it. And it is always a guilt trip looking through your wardrobe a few weeks later realising those purchases will never see the day light. Thus I just had to pick out a few items that you will never regret buying on sale – those that are so classic they can be added to your wardrobe, worn repeatedly and not discarded after a fashion fab is over. This list is in no way complete, but hopefully it will get you to analyse your sale buys to avoid disappointment!

All New Versace For H&M

December 19, 2011 § 2 Comments

Breaking news! Versace is doing another collaboration with H&M and it will be released on January 16! The success of the first collection was so great they decided to do one more and I absolutely can not wait – especially since it is cruise collection!  The range is complete from bikinis to shoes, from nighties to jewellery and from dresses to bags. I want to get every single piece, pack it into a cute bag from the collection and jet off somewhere nice and hot. Trouble is this new range will only be released online – so it will be extremely hard to get access to the website on the day as the experience with the first collection already proved. Nevertheless, the obstacle will not stop me from trying to get my hands on the cute clothes and accessories covered in fruits, berries and butterflies. See the selection of my favourite pieces from the preview released earlier today above and let me know what items you will be chasing after.

(Bikinis both £24.99, Earrings 19.99, Shorts £24.99, T-Shirt £19.99, Silk Dress £59.99,  Ballet Pumps £39.99, Bag £99.99).

P.S. Pictures of the new Versace for H&M men’s collection has also been released today and it is amazing – definitely more wearable than the previous one. Something for the few male readers accidentally stumbling on my blog to be excited about.

Love Affair With Coats

December 18, 2011 § Leave a comment

This season it is easy to slip into wearing black and not emerge out of such dress mode until spring. So here are three beautiful coats that will make you forget black and opt for a lighter hue this winter!

1. Michael Kors Faux Fur-Collar Satin-Twill Coat, £350. Cozy and stylish this coat is great if you are looking for a classier version of your usual parka! I am in love with 3/4 length sleeves of this coat and how beautiful the faux fur looks. Another good example that no animals need to be harmed to create warm and beautiful winter ware.

2. Missoni May Wool-Blend Tweed Coat, £3315. This beauty would break the bank but if you want a perfectly tailored coat you won’t find a cooler item in stores right now. Wear it during the day with cozy cardigan or at night with wintery dress. So pretty I can’t look away.

3. Rag and Bone Magnum Leather and Canvas Hooded Coat, £1655. This screams city chic and begs for skinny jeans and flat boots. And with a very practical hood it will keep your head warm in the wintery wind. But the most exciting part is a combination of leather and canvas. That is probably as exciting as a coat can get.

You can purchase all three coats from http://www.net-a-porter.com.

Forget Skinnies – Everyone Is Rolling Up!

December 17, 2011 § 17 Comments

Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Ashley Olsen are just a few celebrities that love rolled up jeans (or cuffed jeans if you prefer). But no one loves them as much as Rachel Bilson (above). She has rarely been seen without a pair on  – from glamourous events when she matches them with stilettos, to a day out and about town wearing them with more casual yet still heeled shoes.

And that is the new perfect jeans recipe – boyfriend shape, rolled up sometimes distressed but always with heels as rolled up jeans can make your legs look shorter and that must be avoided, especially by the pear shaped girls!

So here is a selection of rolled up jeans I love (excuse the styling) to satisfy any budget and all from ASOS. Order by Monday to receive it before Christmas with standard delivery.

1. Rich Vintage Boyfriend Jeans £35 now £24.50

2. Wrangler Denim Chino in Light Denim was £85 now £45

3. MiH Halsy Vintage 90s Fit Jeans £140

4. Current/Elliot Boyfriend Loved Jeans £220

Are you getting on board with the trend?

Zuhair Murad Holiday Selection

December 10, 2011 § 1 Comment

I absolutely adore Zuhair Murad creations. And so do a lot of celebrities. Above Miley Cyrus chose it for Oscars, Blake Lively was wearing it on set of Gossip Girl and Katy Perry (a big fan who has been seen in Zuhair Murad on numerous occasions) for Vanity Fair Party.

So if you want to make your celebration this winter very special, it is an obvious go to designer – you would sparkle and shine and for sure feel like an A-lister. Of course this does not come cheap – dresses start from £3500. So yes, for most of us those dresses will be unattainable, but hey, it doesn’t mean we can’t dream (or use them as inspiration for finding similar styles at more affordable prices).

The three dresses above are from Zuhair Murad range available at Harrods:

1. Angel Lace Gown, £5650

2. Beaded Shift Dress, £4025

3. Velvet Sequin Dress, £4125

Velvet, lace, beads and sequin are the top features of Zuhair Murad dresses this season – are they in your holiday wardrobe?
