Kandee: Sweeten Your Spring/Summer Shoe Closet
March 5, 2012 § 2 Comments
In November last year one shoe brand caught my attention – Kandee. And as soon as I bought a pair and wrote a post on these beauties (view it here) I received numerous messages from my friends asking where the purchase them. Indeed there is nothing not to like about Kandee – they are high quality, look like any expensive designer creation but do not cost as much.
The reason why I am talking about Kandee again is a release of their Spring Summer 2012 collection. To tell you the truth this time around a lot of items will be hard to pull off – many would be great for photo shoots and stage costumes but are of questionable utility in daily lives – not many people can look good wearing half neon green/half pink shoes called Apple Sours (see them here). Nevertheless there are a few that deserve a place on my fashion wish list – especially knowing how much I love studs!
- Peanut Butter Crunchy Pumps, £120
- Blue Raspberry Dragee Pumps, £120
- Blue Raspberry Dragee, £180
- Pinki,£170
- Mash’a’mallow, £180
Hot Shoe Trend: Toe Caps
February 28, 2012 § 3 Comments
Spring Summer 12 season brought us brand new hot shoe trend: metallic toe caps. Ever since Louis Vuitton show had toe caps on shoes of all shapes and colours I fell in love and looking at the pictures above who would not? Indeed it has been a while that pointy shoes were off the fashion chart but now with the toe cap update they are back and they are big!
And it is not just Louis Vuitton – many other designers and high street already adopted the trend and made a wide range of beauities to choose from whatever your budget:
- Giuseppe Zanotti, Toe Cap Pump, £360
- Christian Louboutin Duvette 120, also available in nude
- Mango Toe Cap Pump, £75
- Sinner Contrast Toecap Points, £62 at Topshop
- Gilmore2 Metallic Toecap Points, £60 at Topshop
But the one I am the most excited to see hit the shops is the Kurt Geiger version from their campaign poster: white sling backs with metal toe cap and medium heel height, those are perfect for day-to-night summer wear and are definitely worthy of my summer fashion wish list.
I am sure is a month time, when the weather heats up you will see them everywhere! The only question is: would you go for classic black, summery white or trendy pastel shade?

When was the last time you wore high tops and felt super fashionable? The answer is most likely to be never, until now that is. Fashion world is currently in love with high tops, but my obsession is more specific – I love high tops with hidden wedge. The look is perfect for current sport de lux trend, plus who does not like a bit of a height boost (ok, I know a lot of girls out there don’t need the extra centimeters, but with my 5’5”/166 cm it is very desirable). So whether you call them sneakers, trainers or just high tops this new shoe type is in high demand!
- Ash Cool Suede Strapped Wedge Trainers, £139
- Asos Ark Leather Wedge Ankle Boots in Brown, £85
- Asos Ark Leather Wedge Ankle Boots in Off White, £85
- See by Chloe Lace Up Wedge Sneakers in Beige, £262
- See by Chloe Wedge Sneakers, £260
- See by Chloe Lace Up Wedge Sneakers in Petalo, £262
- Aldo Nedz Concealed Wedge Suede Trainers, £80
- Ash Thelma Leather Buckle Wedge Trainers, £145
- Ash Bea Colourblock Wedge Trainers, £169
And if the brown to nude versions are so last season for your color taste, Marc by Marc Jacobs High Tops are the answer!
Marni for H&M
February 20, 2012 § 2 Comments
The time has arrived for the brand new H&M collaboration with Marni to be revealed. Original patterns, amazing silk pieces, to die for jewellery – I can not wait till 8th March to update my closet with a handful of items. By far my favourite are the silk creation – bright shorts, pajama styled shirts and trousers (trend alert!) and even silk cardigans: those items will be unique on high street. But also, unlike the Versace for H&M predecessor, Marni jewelery creations are worth paying attention to: statement necklaces, colourful earrings and oversized bracelets that scream high fashion. The only items I am not impressed with are sandals, which look too masculine and bulky and anything in brown and green tribal print – the kind of print that despite uniqueness just does not look stylish enough. All in all though, I am excited as there is a whole range of items I absolutely love! This will go down in history as one of the best collaborations for H&M.
Indeed the success of the team up could be predicted by looking at the great turn out at the launch party which saw stars like Drew Barrymore, Freida Pinto, Winona Ryder and Mila Jovovich showcase the designs. Below are (a few) of my favourite items. I promise to return to the topic on 8th and tell you all about the shopping experience and what items I ended up purchasing!

New Fashion Sweetheart: Lana Del Rey
February 12, 2012 § 12 Comments
Bursting into music scene when her home made video for a melancholic song Video Games went viral on Youtube, Lana Del Rey has just as quickly gained popularity in the fashion world as in the music world. And while her songs and questionable authenticity is being debated all over the internet by music critics, there is nothing less than a complete acceptance of this lady in fashion industry. The song bird has already performed at Chateau Marmont in LA at Mulberry party, was flown to Beijing to do the same for Dior, signed a modelling contract and (drum roll please) appeared on the cover of British Vogue shot by one and only Mario Testino.
On the pictures and in her videos Lana looks every inch of the star she is about to become. And while her off duty look still need a few tweaks (Lana please drop those bomber jackets, they are only cute if you borrowed them from your boyfriend when you were too optimistic about the weather outside and not for daily wear) one thing she definitely got right is her hair style: she epitomises those soft retro waves seen all over spring/summer 2012 fashion runways!
And since I am simply in love with Lana’s Born to Die video, here are the items inspired by two of her outfits in the video. I will definitely be channeling half-hipster half-flower child look very soon (as soon as this Global Freeze currently positioned over London disappears, that is).

All New Kurt Geiger
February 2, 2012 § 1 Comment
It is so exciting to see new season collections arrive to stores! And currently my excitement surrounds Kurt Geiger all new good-enough-to-eat pastel shoe range. The brand really hit the nail on the head with it – spring/summer pastel outfits need the shoes to match and Kurt Geiger is the answer. Heels, wedges and flats – all you need is to pick a style you want and there are at least three colour schemes to choose from, and who doesn’t like that kind of a dilemma! Here are my delicious picks – I am already thinking of what to wear them with. Another thing worth highlighting, possibly due to current economic situation it is not surprising that Kurt Geiger lowered its prices – apart from Naomi and Himalaya the rest of the shoes above are nearly a 1/3 cheaper that usual. I think fashion gods have heard our prayers! Happy Friday!
- Gen Bow £195
- Naomi £395
- Himalaya £295
- Golden £250
- Geldof £220
- Gwen £210
My Two Big Loves
January 28, 2012 § 1 Comment
I mean my love for Pastels and Converse! Of course I do absolutely adore high heels, which I am sure you have noticed based on my constant blogging about killer heels, but during the day when I am running around London it is all about flat shoes. Hence my love for Converse – nothing suits my style better (despite pretty large collection of cute ballerina flats of which my favourites are by Tory Burch).
And since new season is all about pastels, it is time to update my Converse range with oh-so-fashionable colour palette! This could not be easier as on Converse website you can design your own perfect shoe – anything from shape to patterns and colours of every single part of the shoe. You can even get your own name sewn into the design. So above are my beautiful Converse I just ordered that will be with me in 3-4 weeks, just in time for good Converse-friendly weather, I hope. All I need is one of those American Apparel Pouches I added to my pastel wish list a few posts back and I tick all the trend boxes!

Have You Got Yourself Some Karl?
January 26, 2012 § 12 Comments
And if the answer to the question is ‘No’ then you must hurry up – the collection is selling out as we speak.
Now back to the beginning: Just yesterday Karl Lagerfeld unveiled his new lower priced collection titled Karl to the World (think of Versace for H&M without H&M – just Karl by Karl which is way more exciting). But the fact that you can now purchase Lagerfeld’s creation without the hefty price tag is not the only innovative idea used in the project. The collection is only available online (at net-a-porter.com to be specific who have worked on the concept with Karl from start to finish and now are reaping the fruits of unprecedented publicity) and at the launch events held in Paris and London no clothes could be bought – just the pictures of clothes could be scanned with smart phones to be purchased through net-a-porter online.
The collection is mostly black and white and is exactly what Karl is loved for – high fashion glamorous biker chic who loves neat white shirts, leather fingerless gloves, skinny pants, collars and a bit of glitter here and there. The items start from £20 for canvas shopper and £50 for already mentioned gloves and goes up to £980 for snakeskin print leather jacket, but do not expect to see any of the lower priced items still in stock. Here are a few of my favourite items, but to tell you the truth if I could I would have every single one!
- Jacinda two-tone printed cotton T-shirt, £85
- Sabine sequined shorts, £195
- Judit printed racer-back jersey vest, £70
- Printed cotton-poplin cameo collar, £70
- Metallic-buckled leather sandals, £325
- Cutaway leather gloves, £50
- Ordina hammered-satin biker dress, £225
- Jerry PVC-sleeve cotton jersey logo sweater, £135
- Sless denim biker vest, £390
