With the last days of summer fast approaching it is time to start getting ready for new season and welcome Autumn/Winter 2012 fashion. In the first post dedicated to autumn wardrobe overhaul I have decided to concentrate on staple and classic item of my own wardrobe (and millions of other wardrobes around the globe for that matter) – biker boots. Living in London, with its mono-season weather I can get away with wearing biker boots practically every day, but it is autumn in particular when I simply don’t leave the house without a pair of them on. They are cool, comfy and city-friendly, which is more or less the only requirements I have for my footwear. Below I picked out my favourites that will suit every wallet with a price ranging from £30 to £650, enjoy!

  1. Frye Biker Boot, £177, available at farfetch.com – if you like them neat and uncluttered, this boot is for you
  2. Ash Titan Antique Studded Ankle Boots, £279 – from the brand that makes some of the most classic biker boots on high street
  3. Fiorentini and Baker Elis Eternity Studded Biker Boot, £295, available at net-a-porter.com – slouchy top for misfit look
  4. Via Roma XV. S.Mortiz Biker Boot, £146, available at farfetch.com – with tired looking cotton panel those boots have a nicely worn-in look
  5. Asos America Biker Boot, £55 – perfect choice for those on the budget

  7. Jimmy Choo Rabbit Lined Leather Biker Boots, £650, available at net-a-porter.com – the investment piece made to last and thanks to the fury lining will be in use both autumn and winter
  8. Ash Trash Antique Studded Leather Boots, £309 – the tall version of the previously shown Ash boot and it comes in brown, for those bored of black
  9. River Island Lace Up Biker Boots, £75 – just in case buckles are not enough

Fashion Inspiration

It is rare that just one designer collection emerges to epitomise the whole season – there is always more than one favourite. Yet Spring Summer 12 season is different.  It has a clear winner – Louis Vuitton. Just recently I stumbled upon Daily Mail Article about how Louis Vuitton Lace from SS12 collection has already been featured on seven top fashion magazine covers indicating a unique success in the eyes of fashion editors from around the world.  And what those seven covers made me think is that I myself used Louis Vuitton as a focal point when discussing this season trends on more than one occasion. For example pastels trend – LV fashion show was all about pastels and its campaign even more so with not just ice cream shades everywhere but even ice cream itself. Hence when discussing the trend LV campaign was my starting image – fashion designer inspiration (see it here). And then I turned to LV once again when discussing sudden reemergence of pointy shoes that have been updated with metal toe cap thanks to LV fashion show (see it here).

Hence I proudly announce SS12 LV collection as my fashion inspiration and it seems like the fashion world is doing so too. And since now that we are more or less on the right track knowing what to wear I though I wound mention Autumn Winter 12. Indeed I have a reason to since LV show in Paris was just two days ago and Marc Jacobs as usual caused a fashion frenzy with some critics saying it is one of his best. And if this is true – LV might stay truly inspirational all the way through next winter (next winter, I shiver at the thoughts of it).

Del Rey – Lana’s First Fashion Tribute

In retrospect I knew it was coming. After the success of naming a handbag after Alexa Chung, which was one of the major factors propelling Mulberry to fashion heights with the unprecedented speed for British label, having a new fashion muse and as trendy as Lana Del Rey was an obvious step. Indeed Mulberry was a first fashion establishment that recognised Lana’s appeal by hiring her to sing at their LA party. And now that even British Vogue gave her a seal of approval, calling a bag Del Rey was a perfect PR move: fashion world already had eyes on Mulberry for their Autumn/Winter 2012 catwalk show (star studded row would make any designer proud with Michelle Williams, Elizabeth Olsen, Olivia Palermo, Pixie Geldof and Downton Abbey actresses Laura Carmichael and Michelle Dockery to name a few) and having Lana float in with a brand new Del Rey bag just sent fashionistas and media into frenzy!

Mulberry’s Emma Hill said Lana inspired them with her vintage style and seductive voice. Indeed Del Rey bag does have a very vintage feel – add White Ostrich material (the one Lana was wearing for the show and Mulberry party in the evening) and you have a seductive feel indeed. I love Lana’s style (I wrote a post about her recently which you can read here), I love Mulberry, and guess what – I love new Mulberry Del Rey handbag.
