Yet Another Bracelet On My Fashion Wish List: Bibi Bijoux

October 8, 2012 § Leave a comment

When I was a little girl, friendship bracelets were the coolest thing and I learned how to weave them myself and hence ended up making tens of them for all my friends to wear. Now that the friendship bracelets are back it would have been interesting to try to make one again but due to lack of spare time actually finishing one seems unlikely. The good thing is that in our capitalist society we are no longer required to produce things we want and there is always something similar available to purchase. What is even better in this particular case, is that what is available to purchase is a much better version of what I could have made myself! Say hello to Joyful friendship bracelets by a Dutch brand Bibi Bijoux. Colourful and eye-catching those bracelets combine original friendship style weaving with crystals and metal chain to create statement piece that unlike originals comes with useful clasp. Each one is hand made and may have slight variations of design, so you are likely to get a completely unique piece!

Available to purchase at Swarovski Elements for £176.

Hot Item: Double Skull Bracelets

October 2, 2012 § 1 Comment

The fact that skulls are fashionable symbols is not news. Their recent popularity probably goes back to Alexander McQueen and his widely popular skull printed silk scarfs. And once again for A/W 12 the fashion house kept their notorious symbol of death at the heart of the accessories collection and created what has become a sensational bracelet that has been gracing everyone’s arms for the last few months. Meet double skull bracelet that has already moved from My Fashion Wish List straight to my wrist – the hottest accessory of the moment. And since not everyone can afford McQueen prices, or even find where to purchase original one that hasn’t yet sold out, I found a few others that have been inspired by the double skulls for you to see below. So pick yours, put it on and join the cool kids.

  1. Alexander McQueen, £165
  2. The Jewels Boutique, £10
  3. Hello Parry, $12.99 (approx. £8.25)
  4. MadeByGirl, $21 (appox. £13.35)

Classic Reinvention

September 12, 2012 § Leave a comment

Sometimes doing online research for My Fashion Wish List turns out completely counterproductive to the original aim of this blog of keeping my shopoholism under control. This is just one of these situations.

Meet my two favourite pieces from a capsule collection designed by Lulu Frost for J Crew. These tortoise beauties are made out of resin and marcasite with earrings priced at £65 and bracelet at £70. At first glance the colour combination seems so modern, yet take a closer look to discover antique feel of the style, which is exactly what makes these pieces special – timeless classic is completely reinvented. This trick is not new to the brand of Lulu Frost. Established in New York in 2004 by designer Lisa Salzer it always focused on giving modern spin to classic jewellery and thanks to J Crew you can get your hands on Lisa’s designs for less.

To see the entire collection go to www.jcrew.com. Here is a useful tip: despite being operated from US, shipping to UK is at flat £10 rate, but if you become an ‘insider’ on the website, the shipping will be free!

Jewellery Week Special: Gina Stewart Cox

June 23, 2012 § Leave a comment

This is a blog post about a brand I discovered, and which I just had to share with you,  during London Jewellery Week Treasure Exhibition Launch Event. To read my report on the event look it up on my twitter @fashionwishlist.

If you read my blog on regular basis, you would know by now I am a sucker for bracelets especially if they are made for being worn in a combination with others. I have a few which I hardly ever take off, they are my constant companions that went with me through thick and thin and have been collected from wonderful places I visited as memorabilia you always have on you or came from my favourite jewellery designers. And now I am ready to add another one to the collection – one designed by Gina Stewart Cox.

Durable cord, precious metals and gemstones – the whole range relies on top quality material and that is exactly what I am always looking for since I don’t want to part with the bracelet just after a few months of wear. And even when the cord wears out (say in a year or more), you can send it back and get a new cord put in, which is just the right level of post-purchase service you want! And another great thing – all the bracelets are unisex! Having said that if you are buying one for your boyfriend, do stay away from pinks and purples as well as those with gemstones – while unisex, they are not all masculine! And believe it or not there is yet another thing I love about this jewellery brand! Gina’s company has been supporting Elephant Conservation Network that works in Thailand – always great to see successful companies giving back!

Above are my favourite pieces in the colours I picked (there are lots more variations on the website). And here are the prices:

  1. Five Twelve Silver Circle, £41
  2. Chain Poquito Long, £49
  3. Solo Swarovski Aquamarine Piece, £36.50
  4. Knot Silver,£42
  5. Pure Bold, £70
  6. Diamond Single Emerald, £250

Diamonds are the girl’s best friend, sang Marylin. And this Hong Kong born, Saint Martins educated jewellery designer agrees! After studying gemmology her fascination with diamond cutting process inspired designs of her London made jewellery label that pays a tribute to the special form of carbon. Cute, stylish and very interesting indeed! And where can you purchase them, you might ask? On Myflashtrash.com of course – online jewellery store ran by ex-Made in Chelsea actress Amber Atherton. If this is what she quit the scripted reality show for then hats of to the girl, she is doing a brilliant job and if you haven’t already do look around the website, there are so many hidden gems waiting discovery!

  1. Diamond Trillion Charm Ring, £140
  2. Diamond Cage Ring, £182
  3. Heart and Oval Diamond Charm Pearl Bracelet, £384
  4. Diamond Cage Stud Earrings, £168

Bejeweled

April 18, 2012 § Leave a comment

Out of all the jewellery out there, my biggest obsession is by far bracelets. And once again I found myself lusting after new addition to Anthropologie.eu – bejeweled leather Fori bracelets by Italian designer brand Rada. Crystals, stones and beads are glamorous by nature but here are juxtaposed with simple clasp and utilitarian leather base. And I think that is exactly what makes me love them – simplicity and extravagance side by side never looked so tempting!  It is definitely hard to make decision on what version I prefer: multi-coloured is the most versatile yet yellow and orange add the ultimate colour burst to any outfit. Due to multipurposeness (I am not sure that is even a word but adding -ness at the end makes sense, right?) of multi-colour creation it gets my top pick! Make your choice and head to Anthropologie website to purchase yours for £118.

Lock Me, Louis Vuitton

You can’t buy love. Yet some symbols of love can indeed be purchased. And throughout history jewellery was top pick on the list as a present that symbolises deep feelings (or in modern day symbolises something more along the lines of ‘I’m sorry I had an affair’). Ever since the release of Cartier Love collection, it has been the go to range for those kind of presents but now Louis Vuitton Lock Me collection has entered the game at a lower price range. Romantic symbolism of locks, keys and hearts plus the design of the buckle that is LV through and through – what more could you possibly want!

Available in up to 4 colours (Amarante, Ecaille, Black and Pomme d’Amor) the prices are as follows: pendant £340, bracelet £340, ring £180 and earrings £270.

Bracelet Obsession Continues

I love stacking bracelets on my wrist. Right now I sport Monica Vinader, Tiffany, Daisy Jewellery Chakra Bracelet, double leather strap I purchased in Venice Beach California and a Turquoise Cross Bracelet from Urban Outfitters. I have a feeling it is time to expand the collection.

Meet Bee Gregson Jewels! Their bracelets made it onto Vogue Christmas Wish List (I’m proud to say a few of the items I blogged about over the last few months were there). Made out of semi precious stones and metal charms those feminine looking bracelets would look great on their own or in a stack. There are so many colours to choose from – but my selection above is of natural hue:

1. White Jasper Paloma Silver Single Bracelet, £26.

2. Hessonite and Gold Paloma Luxe Double Bracelet, £99.

3. Mokaite and Silver Paloma Double Bracelet, £68.

Purchase them online at http://www.beegregsonjewels.com for yourself or as a perfect Christmas Present!

Stack It Up!

August 25, 2011 § Leave a comment

Everyone loves their bracelet stacks at the moment. I am not the biggest bracelet girl in the World, but now that I am planning my US holiday wardrobe, I am planning to join in and create my own bracelet stack by picking out my old ones from (the very extensive) jewellery box and adding a few new ones as well.

This ChloBo Summer Love Large Black Bead & Turquoise Peace Bracelet is a perfect addition! Contrasting colours, large beads and of course a peace sign – no bracelet stack can go without one.

If turquoise is not your colour others are available and priced at £35 – 40. This particular one is £40 from http://www.rumpusresort.com. Happy Stacking!

Jewels of Tory Burch

i just recently discovered that apart from the most amazing flat shoes called Reva and a range of very cool bags Tory Burch also has a jewellery line. I am impressed, especially with this cute leather animal print cuff. It would look great as a part of a bracelet stack that graces the arms of many celebrities and jewellery lovers because its so different(both the shape and texture).

To tell you the truth I am not a massive bracelet fan – they just always seems to get in the way. Nevertheless I can definitely see myself occasionally wearing this one – it can be a key piece of the outfit hence deserving of a place on my arm. It can be ordered online for $95 from brand’s official website.

Where Am I?
