Cocktail Rings

Since Yves Saint Laurent released the Arty cocktail rings range they have become instantly recognisable and truly covetable pieces of jewellery. There has hardly been one celebrity which wasn’t at some point seen wearing one. Indeed the cult following included: Kylie Minogue who was wearing it on her Aphrodite tour, Kim Kardashian sporting it at the make up launch and Alexa Chung demonstrating it at a photoshoot (with matching nail polish – fab!).
This season YSL extended the range of enamel and gold plated rings further with new colours and materials. I love both the depth of some enamels – looking like they might be some precious stones sent to us interterrestrially – and the monocolour shine of others. My favourite picks below range from £135 to £165. The thing is, whichever colour you pick, the arty ring is a real investment: it has been popular season after season and has moved from ‘trend’ to ‘classic’ category making it the most desirable cocktail ring out there.
Based on the success of YSL arty rings, this season has a whole range of oversized cocktail rings from other brands waiting to steal some fans from the established favourite. Many undercut arty ring in price but some aim higher with beautiful designer creations. See my selection below – are you ready to swap a YSL classic with new season favourite?
- House of Harlow 1960 Sunburst Ring, £51
- House of Harlow 1960 Stone & Crystal Ring, was £83 now £58 (asos)
- House of Harlow 1960 Sun Ring, was £84 now £41 (asos)

- Kenneth Jay Lane Crystal Ring, £55

Christian Louboutin: Items To Die For
November 14, 2011 § Leave a comment
Christian Louboutin never ceases to amuse the world with his creativity. And even when he is engulfed in the law suit with YSL over the red soles, or because of it, he still designs pieces that will go down in the history of fashion. The best part – you can own a bit of it yourself.
Like the Artemis Studded Python Shoulder bag above (£1,345) is the epitome of creativity as it combines an edgy evening bag with a jeweled studded shoulder pad. Magnificence is in the simplicity of the idea. And what I like the most is that unlike most other creative top of the range evening bags (think of Stella McCartney Oval Plexiglass bag) this one is actually a bag i.e. it can carry all your evening essentials.
And secondly there is a fantastic Alex Paw Shoe that looks like, you guessed it, a paw from the front and is supported by beautiful Swarovski heel. Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted wearing those to the last months premier of I Don’t Know How She Does It in Moscow while Blake Lively strolled around New York in them this weekend. And even if it was not for the celebrity endorsement, I would still be dying to have a pair of those crazy creative shoes. But unlike celebrities we have to wait for them to come on sale and to find out the price.
Oversized Knits Are So In!

Michael Kors, Stella McCartney and YSL are just a few brands that featured oversized knits in their Autumn/Winter 11 collections. But if we want to go for a cheaper option, this jumper by French Connection is THE go to item! Currently at reduced price of £39 and all the sizes available online, it is absolutely irresistible and a must addition to the wardrobe.
It has a perfect length – could be worn with jeans as a jumper and as a knitted dress with thick tights for a more wintery feel. It is those kind of clothes that make me excited about fast approaching autumn!
