New Trend Alert: Cropped Corsets

January 17, 2012 § 1 Comment

Every season there is a particular length of tops that is considered hot. Spring/Summer 12 is all about exposing your midriff. But what is more, it is the cropped corsets that are the hottest item of the moment! While it is arguably not the most suitable look for the current weather, you should stock up on the cropped corsets for this spring – they are so popular if you do not get your hands on ones you like they will be soon sold out (like the Topshop Spot one above). Plus the advantage of knowing about this trend in advance – there is still plenty of time to get your body into shape for spring to be able to pull the look off.

The best thing about those corsets is that there are so many choices of what to match them with: from floaty skirts, to leggings, to short shorts and pencil skirts – let your imagination guide you to a perfect spring look. Here are the items going onto my wish list (and into my wardrobe):

  1. Topshop Spot Zip Back Corset £30
  2. Topshop Animal and Lace Corset £30
  3. ASOS Cropped Corset With Studded Detail £14
  4. ASOS Corset Top With Fringe Detail £14

Prada S/S 12 Shoes Are On Fire

January 16, 2012 § Leave a comment

Pardon the pun in the title but Prada’s new season shoes are currently a very hot topic. As we prepare for the new season if you want a bold pair of heels there is no better place to look! Modeled after what seems to be 50’s cars (or to me little Hot Wheals cars my brothers once used to love) the design must have been a major risk – yet the response to those metaphorical creations that are perfect for fast-paced life of urban ladies has been nothing but great. Wedges and stilettos in all the hot colours for this season, those shoes must be on everyone’s wish list. Above is the selection of my favourite pairs from the catwalk – can not wait to see the real life versions once they hit the shops. Who said cars are just boys’ favourite toys?

Prada’s New Arm Candy

January 15, 2012 § Leave a comment

It has been a while since Prada handbag really impressed me. Now the dry spell of creativity is over at the Italian fashion house with a release of a beautiful Pyramide bag. It’s structure and metal clasp closing are very feminine and classic, yet something about the shape and colour selection adds a sporty feel that just hits the nail on the head of sport de luxe trend of S/S 12.The choice is yours, from classic Prada red to striking black and white to pastel baby blue and yellow (ah another trend right there, pastels, big blog post on this coming soon). It is a new perfect bag that deserves a place on the wish list and for £1800 its likely to stay just there.

AQUA

January 8, 2012 § 1 Comment

Aqua dresses have been on my radar for a while – beautifully designed unique shapes, paneling and structural creations that set trends rather than follow them. And above all femininity and sexiness. What more could a girl want in a dress?

If it was up to me I would fill my closet with Aqua – a choice of LBDs that you can wear anywhere, bold coloured dresses perfect for cocktail parties, maxi dresses for very special occasions, super sexy cut out numbers for all those events when you need to dress to impress and beautiful white numbers that you can take away on holiday somewhere nice and warm which will look even better with a slight tan. And that is about all you need. Add some stunning statement jewellery and highest heels you’ve got and you are ready!

Here is my selection – a little taster of the brand:

Diaz Mesh Paneled Long Sleave Dress in Black, £150
Bruni Origami Bandeau Mini Dress in Purple, £120
Flapper Structured Panel Maxi Fringe Bandeau Dress in Orange, was £170 now £110.50 (Recently worn by Cher Lloyd, the best I have ever seen her look)
Eva Boned Paneled V Back Mini Dress in Cream, £70
Vendella Peplum Structured Bandeau Dress in Black, was £125 now £50

New Season Brights

January 5, 2012 § 1 Comment

Colour is good. Repeat it to yourself in preparation to new season where splashes of colour in the outfit is a must. If you are not courageous enough to try head-to-toe colour blocking, there is no better way then to add it with accessories. And while colourful jewellery is great, this season try to use colourful bags instead – there are so many to choose from! Shape-wise it is all about clutches and small cross-body bags, so leave everything but essentials at home (it is surprising how much of unnecessary things I carry around in my handbag thinking it might one day prove useful – it doesn’t, and I am sure I am not the only one). Here is the selection of my top picks to suit different budgets – have a look around yourself and I am sure you will be spoiled for choice.

  1. Boohoo Charmaine Oversized Snake Skin Clutch £25
  2. Boohoo Dawn Tassle Body Bag £15
  3. ASOS Push Lock Across Body Bag, £15
  4. Dolce and Gabbana Crocheted Shoulder Bag £995
  5. Anya Hindmarch Valorie Matte-Rubber Clutch, £250
  6. Mulberry Lily Grass Green Glossy Goat Bag £495

Classic Sale Buys You Won’t Regret

January 4, 2012 § 11 Comments

It is easy to end up in a sale frenzy – buying anything that seems to be at a great price and promising yourself to wear it. And it is always a guilt trip looking through your wardrobe a few weeks later realising those purchases will never see the day light. Thus I just had to pick out a few items that you will never regret buying on sale – those that are so classic they can be added to your wardrobe, worn repeatedly and not discarded after a fashion fab is over. This list is in no way complete, but hopefully it will get you to analyse your sale buys to avoid disappointment!

1. Mulberry Piccadilly Mole Grey Sparkle Tweed, was £1300 now £780 at mulberry.com – because it is one of the most classic bags ever, a bigger version of Bayswater that is perfect for a busy girl or a weekend away.
2. Jimmy Choo Glint Patent Shoe Boots, was £560 now £280 (also available in nude) at jimmychoo.com – everyone dreams of their own pair of Choo’s, this one will be worn so much it will be worth every penny.
3. Tory Birch Canvas Ipad Case, was £120 now £48 at net-a-porter.com – if Ipads are here to stay (which they are) why not turn your one into an accessory at a great price?
4. Alexander McQueen Wool Felt Pleated Skirt, was £455 now £182 at net-a-porter.com – this kind of mini skirt will not come out of fashion. Plus it’s McQueen. No need to say more.
5. Monica Vinader Gold Plated Friendship Bracelet, was £130 now £65 at matchesfashion.com – it’s Monica Vinader, the queen of friendship bracelets – you just can’t say no!
6. Missoni Camberra Crochet-Knit Triangle Bikini, was £245 now £147 at net-a-porter.com – this knitted pattern is a visual synonym for Missoni and it is not going anywhere, you won’t need a cooler bikini for years to come!

The Outnet (.com) my favourite online fashion outlet has a new range of shoes on sale, so good that I could not keep it to myself. Pour la Victoire is a relatively new brand started by designers David Giordano and Jay Adoni in 2008. In short 4 years it achieved massive success being sold in top department stores around the world – from Nieman Marcus to Harvey Nichols. They create classic shoes with contemporary edge and always concentrate on comfort (existence of this word is rarely acknowledged by shoe makers) and quality. If you fall in love with them – you wont need any other brand in your closet as the range will take you from day to night, from work to party. I adore them and I hope so will you. Here are my top 4 picks from Outnet at great prices:

1. Hadley Open-Toe Suede Ankle Boots, were £245 now £123. Simple and stylish it is a perfect reflection of the brand.

2. Loelle Patent Leather Pumps, were £215 now £108.  A perfect pair of shoes that will work with anything. Plus it has a perfect heel size for a working woman.

3. Avalon Leather Brogues, were £215 now £97. Classic shoe that is perfect for running errands around the town.

4. Hiro Suede Sandals, were £215 now £108.  Great day to night shoes and perfect colour to spice up your little black dress.
