Let’s Dress Up as…MEN!
August 23, 2011 § Leave a comment
Androgynous trend is one of the biggest this season. I am not up for major dressing up, but a few pieces here and there will create a perfect look.
Here is my favourite (so far) male-like item of clothing that I can imagine myself wearing as soon as the temperature drops to usual autumn level (to tell you the truth I can not imagine ever taking it off). It is a beautiful Stella McCartney navy wool coat. I believe it is an investment – it is hard to justify spending £1055 on http://www.net-a-porter.com otherwise.
This coat is a ticket into the new season, time to get the Autumn gear out!
Can I have an Oscar?

This is my kind of Oscar. A wonderful travel wallet/clutch from http://www.mimiberry.co.uk, London based Central Saint Martins graduate called (surprise surprise) Mimi Berry. It comes in red, tan, black, brown and gold each with tan coloured fastener. I am definitely purchasing it in preparation for my holiday since its double duty – will keep all my documents organised in the airport and act as a cool clutch when I reach my destination! I am all about minimalistic packing! (Well, I say I am and I always end up paying for overweight bags or extra suitcases. I am dreading the day I pack for 2 weeks away…)
Make Your Perfect Ballerina

Ballet flats. What would we do without them? This month iconic French shoe maker Repetto teamed up with Selfridges to allow us, the ballet flat lovers to create a perfect shoe by choosing out of 250 colours of leather, bows and trimmings. The pop up atelier is open until 12th September and your unique shoe will cost a minimum of £345. But just imagine no one (apart from people who design identical shoe) will wear the same shoes as you, how very ‘couture’!
At the end of the day it is not just about the resulting shoe but a different shopping experience. I am all up for pop up shops and shopping techniques that involve the customer. Big well done to Repetto, great way to promote the brand!
We Are Handsome

Lucky me – I’m going on an amazing holiday in two and a half weeks. And since it is still August I am sure I am not alone in searching the web for the best swim suits out there that can make me look better than all my friends who have already taken their summer breaks and brought back tons of pictures to flaunt. Well, I found it!
First of all this summer is all about wearing one piece swim suits. No you can’t get a good tan in them but wow you can look fabulous even if you had a large taste of foreign cuisine the night before. And clearly a one piece swimsuit winner has to be We Are Handsome. Luxurious fabrics, beautiful colours and prints that will make you stand out of the crowd – no wonder celebrities love it! Rihanna was wearing Protector style on her Caribbean holiday and she looked fab!
So this is clearly my choice – The Dutch Printed swimsuit with zip detail, exclusive to http://www.net-a-porter.com that will set you back a mere £210. I can already picture myself looking awesome by the pool somewhere in California…
The Original Collars

In the last month everyone has gone collar-crazy. Asos black sequin collar was flying off the e-shelves faster than printers were churning out the magazines that features it (oh yes, there were a lot of those).
But if you don’t want to settle for asos goods, try Gemma Lister – a jewellery designer whose collection featured collars back in Autumn/Winter 2010. This gold sequin one will definitely make you stand out of the Peter Pan lovers’ crowd. Made to order from http://www.gemmalister.com, £45.

Finders Keepers is an Australian brand that makes young fashionable clothes that are full of life and colour. After becoming a success story Down Under, the affordable label is moving into UK by opening a concession in Harvey Nichols.
With no brand awareness prior to hearing the news I was pleasantly surprised looking through their online gallery – beautiful party dresses, cool shorts and chic blouses all reasonably priced (dresses roughly £60). My favourite piece, shown above is a On the Road Shirt Dress that epitomises Australian fashion – laid back yet very stylish.
I have a good feeling – this brand will fit well in UK, we love our laid back clothing that shows we care but do not obsess over it. The only question is the price positioning of the brand as it tries to expand, if it stays in the affordable region Harvey Nichols might not promote it to mass market, but nevertheless it is a good place to start.
Yes, this article deserves a place on my wish list!

This is September issue of Tatler. It contains one of the best fashion articles I have ever read. I want to cut it out and frame it. Seriously!
It is not about fashion icons or newest trends. It is about us. How we feel in particular situations. And how clothes help us be perceived the way we want. After all fashion is all about showing who you really are to the world. This article is written so humorously that first it comes across as a joke. That is before you stumble across a situation you have experienced and realise that jokes aside it is all there, bare truth.
So turn to page 136 for 12 best pages in all the September issues out there and see exactly what you need to wear to suit your mood and attitude to a series of events that we have to deal with on daily basis.
Do judge the fragrance by the bottle

Stella McCartney repackaged her original perfume into three limited edition flower bottles using the prints from her Spring/Summer 11 collection. The design itself makes me want to buy all three (£35 from Boots), have them on the dresser and use instead of real flower arrangements. The actual perfume is the cherry on top. If you don’t have one already, buy it – rose and amber create a very enchanting fragrance. If you do – get the limited edition one before it runs out. And for all environment lovers there is another plus: it’s organic. Ah, it ticks all my boxes..
The only problem is deciding which one!
It’s all about furrrrrr (faux of course)
August 10, 2011 § Leave a comment
I am a massive fan of fur coats. I am also a massive fan of living creatures. Hence I say ‘No’ to real fur and stick to faux – it feels guilt-free and is way cheaper!
Despite the weather new season clothing is hitting the stores – hence time to stock up on autumn/winter goodies. This foxy jacket is from asos, costs £70 and is featured in their special autumn coats edit. I must admit I am in love: simple style and absolutely beautiful colour that is so ‘in’ this season, what’s not to love?
The most important thing of course is the feel of it – faux fur needs to look good! The better it looks the more people will opt out of wearing real fur and that is the way forward! So I am waiting for my asos delivery and thanks to easy returns I will choose weather the quality of the jacket that looks oh-so-hot online is up to scratch. Will let you know!
UPDATE: I received it. It’s better than I expected – soft, warm and looks amazing on!
