Inspired by Celebrity Style

September 11, 2012 § Leave a comment

Three of the brightest young stars of Hollywood (Emma Watson, Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence) known for three of the biggest movie franchises (Harry Potter, Twilight Saga, Hunger Games) are currently promoting three new films in Toronto (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, On the Road and Silver Linings Playbook) each wearing one of three best outfits of the week (Erdem, Zuhair Murad and Dior Couture). In fact all three looked so good (special congratulations to Kristen Stewart for looking stunning on her first post-cheating-scandal appearance, the minimum she needed to achieve if she is to get R-Patz back) I had to share these looks with you so we all could be inspired for A/W12 season and learn a thing or two about what is hot right now.

  1. Floral patterns. Yes, florals for Autumn Winter season. Getting used to it should not be hard knowing how much we all desire to extend this summer feeling.
  2. Colour. Avoid black on black despite being the most functional colour combination for rainy season. At least give colourful accessories a go.
  3. Pointy heels. They are back. And yes, you can stick to black colour here. Best thing about pointy heels – they make your legs look extra long. Worst – if you have slightly wider feet than normal, like me, good luck trying to wear them for more than an hour at a time.
  4. Vivid lips. Whether it’s Cherry or Fuchsia, make your lips stand out. My recommendation for luscious colour – Mac or Bobby Brown.
  5. Shiny Brunette locks. Ok, this hot trend is totally made up. If you are blond, you are just as fashionable this season as last but since these three gorgeous ladies are sporting my hair colour I thought I might as well…

So this season add some colour to your Fashion Wish List whether it comes in a form of a floral frock or dramatic lips, wear classic shoes that you might have to take off in under 60 minutes and keep your eye on these three ladies, who are likely to continue inspiring our fashion choices for months to come.

My Top 10 Beauty Buys

September 7, 2012 § Leave a comment

I have never before touched on the subject of beauty on my blog, after all there are hundreds of amazing beauty bloggers whose tips would hold more authority than mine. But nevertheless the requests to mention my beauty buys never went away. Thus I have prepared my top 10 list of beauty products that I can’t live without – it is not 10 best products ever or 10 products you have to purchase, the list consists simply of a few bits and bobs I love and use on daily basis. Here you go…

  1. Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash, £18.40 for 197ml – exfoliating granules leaves my face feeling fresh and the invigorating smell totally wakes me up in the mornings!
  2. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant, £22 – super fast moisturising for SOS situations, perfect for chapped lips or healing cuts and scabs.
  3. Khiel’s Calendula Herbal Extract Toner, £34.50 for 250ml – I mean it this toner has flower petals floating inside the bottle, which on its own is enough to make it my favourite. Plus it does calm the skin down and reduce redness!
  4. L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream, £18.50 for 150ml – Always in my hand bag, I am a real sucker for shea butter. Also comes in different sizes so you can pick your ideal one depending on when you use it most!
  5. Bliss Lid and Lash Make Up Removal, £12.30 for 110ml – removes the most hard-core waterproof mascara and hardly leaves any residue. The 2 most important things for me covered!
  6. Philosophy Cinnamon Buns Shower Gel, £14 for 480ml – best smelling shower gel ever and if you are not a fan of cinnamon there is a whole range of deserts to choose from including my second favourite Vanilla Birthday Cake.
  7. Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Souffle Body Cream, £43.50 – the most amazing body cream, light as a feather yet amazingly moisturising and just smells heavenly! Not the cheapest on my list though, but a real treat for your body.
  8. Khiel’s Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque, £21.50 for 150ml – another one of my Khiel’s favourites, I use it religiously once a week for deep clean – pimple prevention that works for me.
  9. Sanctuary Salt Scrub, £11.25 for 650ml –  London’s most famous spa created a use-at-home range and I can never get enough of this luxurious scrub that leaves your skin extra soft and glowing.
  10. Khiel’s Ultra Facial Moisturiser, £15.50 for 75ml – essential part of my daily beauty routine thanks to lightweight formula that does not leave your face greasy. Pea size amount is enough for a whole face so it lasts and lasts!

Autumn Wardrobe Essentials: Coats by Zara

August 20, 2012 § Leave a comment

After launching Autumn/Winter 12 wardrobe discussion last week with a piece on biker boots, it is only logical to continue the story of new season essentials this week by moving to outerwear – the most necessary piece of clothing for British autumns. While looking around for the trendiest coats out there, no one collection has caught my eye (nearly in its entirety) more then the one offered by Zara. They got all the trends covered – colourwise, black and navy are present (yes, black is back); accessories like studs, peplums and large pockets are there; materials range from boucle to heavy wool to quilted leather; and on top of that masculine cut of most of the coats with perfect mid-thigh length. As far as the coats go, you won’t regret stocking up at Zara who went all out offering cool designer look with prices from £69.99 to £139. Autumn outerwear? Tick!

Check out my picks below and head to Zara.com or your nearest store for the whole range. P.S. I’m totally in love with coat number 4 – perfect substitute for short leather jackets that will keep me warmer and go well with both my daily looks based on skinny jeans and more dressed up outfits. Got to love multifunctionality.

1. Navy Coat with Applique on Sleeves, £129
2. Red/Navy Boucle Coat, £69.99
3. Coat with Studded Shoulders, £119

4. Coat With Quilted Sleeves, £139
5. Fantasy Wool Jacquard Coat, £79.99
6. Dark Green Coat in Fantasy Fabric with Chain, £119

Autumn Staple: Biker Boots

August 14, 2012 § Leave a comment

With the last days of summer fast approaching it is time to start getting ready for new season and welcome Autumn/Winter 2012 fashion. In the first post dedicated to autumn wardrobe overhaul I have decided to concentrate on staple and classic item of my own wardrobe (and millions of other wardrobes around the globe for that matter) – biker boots. Living in London, with its mono-season weather I can get away with wearing biker boots practically every day, but it is autumn in particular when I simply don’t leave the house without a pair of them on. They are cool, comfy and city-friendly, which is more or less the only requirements I have for my footwear. Below I picked out my favourites that will suit every wallet with a price ranging from £30 to £650, enjoy!

  1. Frye Biker Boot, £177, available at farfetch.com – if you like them neat and uncluttered, this boot is for you

  3. Fiorentini and Baker Elis Eternity Studded Biker Boot, £295, available at net-a-porter.com – slouchy top for misfit look
  4. Via Roma XV. S.Mortiz Biker Boot, £146, available at farfetch.com – with tired looking cotton panel those boots have a nicely worn-in look
  5. Asos America Biker Boot, £55 – perfect choice for those on the budget
  6. Topshop Davidson Biker Wellies, £30 – for a rainy day
  7. Jimmy Choo Rabbit Lined Leather Biker Boots, £650, available at net-a-porter.com – the investment piece made to last and thanks to the fury lining will be in use both autumn and winter
  8. Ash Trash Antique Studded Leather Boots, £309 – the tall version of the previously shown Ash boot and it comes in brown, for those bored of black
  9. River Island Lace Up Biker Boots, £75 – just in case buckles are not enough

The Big New Jewellery Trend: Above Knuckle Rings

August 9, 2012 § 14 Comments

Jewellery. It has been around for 100,000 years (that is approximate age of the oldest jewellery ever found – beads made out of snail shells, thank goodness we moved on from those designs) and so you would think the humanity had enough time to experiment with different kinds of jewellery and different ways to wear it to the point that nothing surprised us anymore. Apparently not. There is a new craze sweeping the Western world and it includes the most traditional of rings worn around the less traditional area – above knuckle. So far little is known about the origin of the trend, but the scale of it is staggering – all the cool girls in town are already wearing it and if you are not, don’t worry I am right here to guide you through the process of acquiring some and joining in with the cool kids.
Option 1 – Look through your jewellery box and try to find any rings you wore as a child which you then outgrew, chances are they are a perfect fit for above knuckle spot. If there are no rings of such kind in your jewellery box do not despair, there are other options available.
Option 2 – If you, just like me, have fat sausage fingers go to the nearest store and purchase any ring of your liking (stay away from massive statement rings, though) in Small or Extra Small size, depending on the size of your sausages aka fat fingers.
Option 3 – If you have beautiful thin fingers, below are my favourite affordable rings specifically made for above knuckle wear. Choose your favourite, decide which number is the closest to it, look up the number on the list below and go to the related website to purchase it.
Done! Now go share the new trend with your friends and hope it will last, otherwise those rings will soon end up in the fad corner of the wardrobe next to leg warmers and harem pants.

Creating Perfect Match

August 1, 2012 § Leave a comment

If you read my blog regularly, you might remember that in the beginning of June after attending London Jewellery Week event I made a series of post dedicated to the most memorable brands I came across there. Well, I have been keeping an eye on them ever since and today I am bringing you news about utterly cool Allumer jewellery.

Paul Smith and Allumer created a perfect match – literally! I fell in love with ‘Light up my life’ slogan-bearing necklaces when I first saw them (and mentioned them in a post here), and now there are four exclusive versions available at Paul Smith stores in London and Heathrow. You have a choice of silver with garnet or amethyst tip or 9kt gold vermeil with green tourmaline or moonstone, starting at £120. What I love the most – you can get a his and hers matches (his and hers jewellery is trending at the moment thanks to Kim and Kanye’s fashion-forward romance, so why not follow their lead?).

And apart from matches, from the same locations you can also purchase a Flicker of Light bracelet (£69) that comes with a silver plate engraved with XOXO – unisex and with ambiguous message this is a perfect present, yet I somehow feel many of you would want it all to yourself!

I am heading to Marylebone Paul Smith store today to check them out, will you?

24 Hours of Wild(fox)

July 29, 2012 § Leave a comment

Excitement in the air! For 24 hours only (until noon on Monday) ASOS is having a special Tick, Tock, Shop event with 60% off cult denim and T-shirt brands. And the one brand I am most excited about – the one I just had to share with all of you – is celebrity favourite Wildfox. Established in Los Angeles in 2007 the brand creates vintage-looking pieces inspired by fun, love and friendship – the values close to heart to two childhood friends that are behind the brand’s designs. The success was almost instant: laid back California fell in love with comfy fits and tongue-in-cheek slogans and thanks to celebrity following (it is actually hard to think of any young and hip American celebrity who has not been seen wearing their pieces) that love spread world-wide.

Take a look at my favourite pieces currently on sale and then go to ASOS.com for full range. But hurry up, the stock won’t last long!
